Why buy south sea pearls and what are they?  The term “South Sea Pearl” is generally used to describe saltwater cultivated pearls from seas south of Japan.   South sea pearls are cultivated in Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar.  These are some of the most beautiful pearls on earth.  Colors include shades of silver, light brown, cream, and varying shades of gold.  Gold pearls are less common than most other colors and are sold at a premium, some particularly amazing pearls take on a 24 karat gold color.  Tahitian pearls are a unique group of Australian South Sea pearls which tend to be various shades of grey, silver and even black.  They are quite rare with exceptionally quality, color and luster.  South Sea pearls are used in a variety of jewelry including south sea pearl necklaces, south sea pearl bracelets and south sea pearl earrings.  In our opinion it’s worth it to pay a bit more for higher quality pearls as they hold their value over time and might even appreciate.  Things to consider when you buy pearls.
